: The Original Miami Beach Antique Show took place at the Miami
Beach Convention Center January 19-23.
In its 44th year, the show brought in more than 1,000 exhibitors
from throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil,
Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, Germany and Denmark.
"This year's Original Miami Beach Antique Show was very
encouraging for dmg world media and for our customers as it
usually sets the pace for the year to come," said Rob Haynes,
vice president, dmg world media, Arts & Antiques, North
America.
"In a national marketplace that has been relatively sluggish over
the past two years, this show proved to be strong, well attended
and had an exciting buying buzz on the floor."
Artwork in all sizes and manner could be found.
Lauren Stanley, who has appeared on Martha Stewart,
brought two Tiffany & Co. marine-themed salad bowls, circa
1885, priced at $98,500.
TK Asian Antiquities brought a Chinese Tang dynasty glazed horse
with a price tag of $1 million.
The show featured fine art, textiles, lighting, fine silver,
jewelry, toys, sporting, Western and architectural items, and
furniture and accessories from all periods and places.
Exhibiter Wayne Jones, owner of The Abby, was overjoyed with this
year show. "Knowing that the economy is not at its strongest, it
did not seem to stop buyers from buying," he said.
Rick Bumgardner, owner of Morning Glory Antiques of Kansas City,
Mo., said the show attracts many serious buyers.
