Trunk Yields $195,500 Paul Revere Engraving at Grogan

DEDHAM, MASS.
: A hand-colored engraving of the 1770 Boston Massacre by Paul Revere that turned up in a trunk from the estate of Elizabeth Storer soared to $195,500 at Grogan and Company's September 26 auction.

The work had been estimated conservatively at $2/4,000 and was hammered down to an anonymous buyer in the room amidst a round of applause.

Auctioneer Michael Grogan also applauded staffer Hercules Pappachristos, who had unearthed the image from the trunk.

A complete review of the sale will appear in a future issue.
