Three-Day Prints Sale at Sotheby's Totals $10.4 Million

NEW YORK CITY
: Sotheby's three-day prints sale, which was conducted from October 27 to 29, totaled $10,410,000 and was 85.4 percent sold by value and 79 percent sold by lot.

The top lot of the sale was Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's "Elsa Dite a Viennoise," which sold for $352,000 to an American private collector. In addition, a group of Picasso linoleum cuts from 1962 performed exceptionally well.

Rounding out the sale's top ten lots were Pablo Picasso, "Buste de Femme au Chapeau," $273,600; Brice Marden, "Cold Mountain Series," "Zen Studies 1-6," $156,000; Pablo Picasso, "Femme au Corsage á Fleurs," $138,000; Edvard Munch, "Separation I" (Woll 77), $126,000; Pablo Picasso, "a Celestine," $108,000; Pablo Picasso, "Nature Morte a la Suspension," $108,000; Jasper Johns, "Usuyuki," $108,000; Marc Chagall, "Odyssée," $108,000; and Pablo Picasso, "Jacqueline au Chapeau de Paille," $102,000.

Prices reported include buyer's premium, which is 20 percent of the hammer price on the first $200,000 and 12 percent thereafter.
