The cover lot sold for $193,000, including premium. It was an Art
Deco colored diamond and diamond sautoir. The detachable pendant
was notable for its pear-shape faceted yellow diamond weighing
approximately nine carats. The 16-inch necklace was bead-set with
one marquise and 164 old mine and old European-cut diamonds
weighing approximately 5.25 carats.
Bidding started at about $80,000 and quickly rose as competition
was intense, both on the floor and between five or six phone
bidders. It sold to an overseas phone bidder.
