Triumph of Summer" eclipsed his other seasonal work offered by
nearly $700,000.
NEW YORK CITY - Christie's May 30 sale of Old Master paintings
totaled $2,696,840 and was 80 percent sold by value and 74
percent sold by lot.
The top lot of the sale was Antoine Caron's "Allegory of the
Triumph of Summer," which sold for $903,500. A realized price of
$231,500 was achieved for Caron's "Allegory of the Triumph of
Spring," and Jean-Baptiste Greuze's oil on canvas painting of a
young girl holding a dove, "La jeune Fille a la colombe," fetched
$209,100.
