A Pittsburgh double eagle

...while a Columbia/eagle flask achieved $57,200.
EAST GREENVILLE, PENN. -- Stellar prices were repeatedly achieved
during the first session of the single owner absentee auction
featuring the early American glass collection of the late Bob
Mebane.
The sale, conducted by Glass Works Auctions, offered 245 lots
bottles, historical flasks and inks, along with an additional 245
lots of advertising materials. Bidding on the lots closed October
21 and according to auctioneer Jim Hagenbuch, all of the
callbacks for the major items had been completed by the following
day and the entire sale was closed out early in the weekend.
The 490 lots offered grossed an impressive $1,002,100, including
premium. The top price of the first session came as a rare
half-pint Columbia/eagle flask in yellow green with bold
impression sold at $57,200. Another of the top lots was a rare
Pittsburgh double eagle flask with beaded edge in a deep yellow
olive with a dark green mouth and shoulder at $56,100.
A complete review of the auction will appear in a future issue.
