: - Antiques Week in New Hampshire got off to a bang this past
weekend, August 1-3, as Northeast Auctions staged three days of
sales at the Center of New Hampshire.
Auctioneer Ron Bourgeault, shown top right with specialist Carl
Crossman to his left, offered nearly 2,200 lots from dozens of
estates and collections.
The top item, sold on Saturday as part of the various owners'
auction, was a circa 1710-30 William and Mary dressing table from
Salem, Mass. In a remarkable state of preservation, the rare item
went to New York dealer Leigh Keno for $464,500 including
premium.
The catalog's cover lot, the William Greenleaf Chippendale
mahogany bombe desk and bookcase, consigned by the New Bedford
Whaling Museum-Old Dartmouth Historical Society, generated only
one bid against the reserve and passed at $675,000 ($800,000/1.2
million).

Sunday's auction of the Benjamin and Cora Ginsburg collection, in
a future issue.
