: - Strong prices were recorded in numerous categories at
Fontaine's annual Summer Auction this past weekend, August 22-23.
Particularly notable was a set of stained glass windows, Tiffany
lighting and the highly anticipated art glass collection of Greg
Giampapa, from which many of the lots routinely tripled presale
estimates.
Leading the auction was a set of five Art Nouveau windows in the
Mucha style, circa 1900, and decorated with scenes of the Four
Seasons. Estimated at $20/30,000, the lot was actively bid with
it selling at $74,750, including premium.
Also commanding a price of $74,750 was a Tiffany peony lamp with
an 18-inch shade that incorporated confetti glass. The lamp,
mounted on a gilded turtle back-style base, was a late addition
to the sale.
