: Golden Gavel's recent auction of the contents of Greystone Farm,
which included the estate of Emerson Davis, one of the original
founding families of Stafford, was much like peeling back layers
of time, with most every period of collecting uncovered.
The auction attracted interest from around the country and many
emails from abroad, according to auctioneer Ralph Labozzo. "We
were very pleased to have been selected to auction such a fine
and extensive estate," he said.
Atop the walnut swing leg table, $9,900, was a Heisey punch
bowl that reached $220.
Some of the highlights included a period Eighteenth Century
walnut swing leg table featuring a scalloped skirt and terminating
with Queen Anne feet, which brought $9,900; a Sheraton grain
painted dressing table, $2,750; and an Eighteenth Century
single-drawer tavern table, which fetched $8,800.
Smalls included early pressed and carnival glass (ranging from
$44 to $385); a Heisey punch bowl with cups for $220; and a
Southbend fishing lure with original box, $1,265.
Prices reflect a ten percent buyer's premium.
