Craftsman Auctions Stickley Desk for $115,000.

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J.
: An enthusiastic crowd was on hand for Craftsman's Arts and Crafts Auction Weekend this past Saturday and Sunday, January 24 and 25, with the auction posting an impressive $1.9 million.

The sale marked the return of a partnership between Jerry Cohen and David Rago, who, along with Suzanne Perrault, put together an exciting three-session sale that was reminiscent of Rago's early Manhattan auction series conducted in the Puck Building.

The auction featured more than 1,000 lots of pottery, art and "wood." The top lot of the auction came from the later category as an extremely rare Harvey Ellis designed fall front secretary desk by Gustav Stickley soared beyond estimates to sell at $115,000.

The desk, in original finish with the original interior accoutrements, had descended in the family of a New Jersey Judge and believed to have been purchased from Gustav Stickley in 1903.

A complete review of the sale will appear in a future issue.
