: On June 17, Estates Unlimited, Inc Auction Galleries sold an
Albert Bierstadt oil painting on board of a "Tropical Sunset."
Found in a local Rhode Island estate and fresh to the market, the
12- by 16-inch oil on board painting had never been removed from
its original frame. The painting exceeded the auction house's
estimate of $60/80,000, finishing at $86,250.
The painting sold to a local collector in the house against most
of the action from seven phone bidders.
"It was exciting to offer this wonderful painting and, moreover,
to see that it will stay here in Rhode Island," stated Steven M.
Fusco of Estates Unlimited, Inc.
