Amberina Vase Soars To $27,600 At Early's Art Glass Auction

CINCINNATI, OHIO
:Early's fall art glass auction conducted on October 28-29 at the Radisson Hotel at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport was a stellar sale by all accounts. Several private collections throughout the country contributed to strong offerings in all categories, including Tiffany, Steuben, Quezal, Mount Washington and New England.

A rare plated amberina pinch-sided vase with a quadra-fold rim, that came from the estate of the art glass collection of Maude Feld, passed its $4/6,000 presale estimate to bring $27,600.

Another strong Tiffany flower form with excellent coloring at 16 inches in height brought $18,400.

Mount Washington glass was exceptionally strong, highlighted by a peachblow glass vase in the Queen's design retaining the original paper label. This sold for $26,450. Another Mount Washington rarity to sell was an important two-handled Burmese vase decorated in the Desert Series, featuring a richly adorned elephant moving through a desert oasis. This is one of the rarest examples Early's has ever seen and it brought $20,700. A Mount Washington Royal Flemish water pitcher featuring an underwater scene of swimming fish moving through sea grass and shells sold for $14,950.
