:Police from the Rockland County town of Ramapo are investigating the theft of seven wood fireplace mantels from a home in Sloatsburg. The theft occurred between 4 pm on July 19 and 1:30 pm on July 20.
According to the police report, the mantels were all removed in one piece. The homeowner stated that the mantels were from the Nineteenth Century Federal period, possibly 1810–1820. The approximate value of each mantel is $1,000.
