NEW YORK CITY - "," Stella Show Mgmt. Co.'s January showcase of
formal, American and modern furniture, art, folk art, jewelry and
decorative objects, got underway on Saturday, January 18, and
Sunday, January 19, with 300 dealers assembled along the long
aisles inside two of New York's landmark passenger ship terminal
piers.
, which takes place on Piers 90 and 92 on two consecutive
weekends, brackets the mid-January mania collectively known as
Antiques Week in New York, complementing some eight different
antiques events, including Americana auctions, the Winter
Antiques Show, the New York Ceramics Fair, The American Antiques
Show, Barry Cohen's Antiques Manhattan show and Stella's own
Antiques at the Armory.
At the Piers, American antiques, as well as the edgier modern
displays offered include Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century
American and European furniture, silver, art glass, paintings,
prints, porcelains and fine linens, Art Deco furnishings and
streamlined mid-Twentieth Century furniture, art, and decorative
accessories. Indeed, once known primarily as an Americana show,
has evolved to embrace a lot more, including the kickier
categories of modern decorative arts, fine art and vintage
memorabilia. The result is a dynamic and eclectic show whose
surprises and variety reflect the verve of New York City.
