: "The American Antiques Show is alive and well and everything is
looking up for our fourth annual event. We have a wonderful new
location at the Time-Warner Building, 60th Street at Columbus
Circle, which will meet all of our needs, and we are looking
forward to drawing in lots of people to our show," Barry Briskin,
executive chair of the show, said. He pointed out that the exact
location in the building had not been settled yet, but there is
the possibility of the seventh floor or a lower floor. In either
case, all of the 45 exhibitors will be on one floor and there is
the chance the cafeteria will be located on the floor above. It
will, however, be on a partial floor and easily accessible from
either elevator of staircase.
Josh Wainwright, show manager, of Keeling Wainwright Associates,
Inc, mailed out letters and sign-up forms to the exhibitors last
week, with a return deadline of August 1. Those letters will be
followed up by contracts when the time gets closer. It is
expected that most of the dealers will be returning to the show
and few additions will be made.
The show ran for three years at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125
West 18th Street, but due to a scheduling conflict the facility
was not available for the 2005 show. The American Folk Art
Museum, owner of the show, has secured the Pavilion for the years
2006-08 in order the guarantee a location for the next three
years. "If the Time-Warner spot works out perfectly for the show,
and we can be assured of that location for a number of years to
come, we might just stay uptown," Barry Briskin said.
The American Antiques Show will have its gala preview opening on
Wednesday, January 19, and continue through the following Sunday.
