: More than 600 dealers jammed their way into the Passenger Ship
Terminal piers this past weekend, November 12 and 13, for another
version of the ever-popular Triple Pier Antiques Show. The event,
presented by Stella Shows Mgmt Co., opened with a twist for this
most recent event with an early buyer's preview taking place on
Friday evening.
A staggering assortment of material was on hand for the hoards of
shoppers that charged onto the piers starting at 4 on Friday.
Good sales were noted in many of the booths as patrons made their
way through the show with steady crowds and good sales reported
throughout the weekend.
Gold Goat, Rhinebeck, N.Y.
Merchandise seen on the floor included a selection of pieces
from two market-friendly Georges. Stellar George Ohr pottery, some
priced in the upper end of the five-figure zone, was offered by
Lambertville, N.J., dealer/auctioneer David Rago, to another
Twentieth Century George treasure, an oversized low Conoid chair by
George Nakashima in the booth of Mood Indigo.
There were Wooton desks displayed by Richard and Eileen Dubrow,
Tiffany and leaded glass lamps by a variety of makers in a host
of booths including SPQR Lamps, Jack Papadinis and Lawrence
Zinzi, and bronze and European furniture and furnishings offered
by many.
Zany folk art items and eclectic wares were seen in the booth of
Ohio dealer Chuck Auerbach, including his glove mold made
specifically for people missing one of their digits, HG Limited
offered up an eye-pleasing collection of chrome can openers from
the 40s and 50s, and a selection of humorous signs appeared in
the booth of Golden Goat.

Modern Times, Chicago.
More traditional folk art items included a nice selection of
decoys from the stand of Bird in Hand, to a huge life-size horse
storefront display offered by Paula Rubenstein. Clifford Wallach
had a great selection of tramp art including numerous frames, boxes
and a large chest of drawers; across the way a large striking
cupboard in natural finish was offered by James and Judith Milne.
Triple Pier was a solid event this past weekend with full range
of merchandise offered from antiquities to contemporary art. The
vast majority of the dealers scheduled to set up on the pier this
coming weekend, November 19-21, will not be repeat dealers from
the previous weekend. Those that do both shows will have a whole
new assortment of exciting merchandise.
Triple Pier will open on Friday afternoon, November 19, 4 to 7
with a $35 preview. Regular show hours, $15 admission, are
Saturday with the staggered openings for each pier at 9,10 and 11
am, to 6 pm. Sunday hours are 11 am to 6 pm. For further
information contact Stella Shows at 212-255-0020.
The e-preview feature of the show has photographs of all of the
dealers' booths from this past weekend. New photos of the booths
