The garden room of the Zimmerman House.
:Frank Lloyd Wright's Zimmerman House Open For Tours
After a short winter break, Frank Lloyd Wright's Zimmerman House
has reopened for tours.
The Zimmerman House, the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed
residence open to the public in New England, is owned by the
Currier Museum of Art. The Currier offers tours of the house from
March through January, as well as special twilight tours June
through October. Check the Currier's website for any additional
tours. The museum also continues to offer a popular weekend
getaway package, "From Victorian to Usonian," for $229. For

The well-known architect designed the home in Manchester's North
End for Dr Isadore J. and Lucille Zimmerman in 1950; four decades
later, they gave it to the Currier. Made of Georgia cypress,
molded cement and matte red brick, the house is topped with a
clay tile roof, recently restored to Wright's original
specifications.

The Currier Museum has reopened the Zimmerman House for tours
after a winter break.
Describing it as a classic "Usonian," Wright also chose
textiles for the Zimmerman House and designed modular freestanding
and built-in furniture, gardens, and even the mailbox. A ten-year
plan to restore the site's landscape is well under way.
Tours are 1 1/2 hours long and are scheduled for Monday, Thursday
