Suzanne Slater Kristoff, Red Petticoat Antique Shop & Main Street Cellars

New Canaan, Conn.
:Suzanne Slater Kristoff, loving mother, friend, sister, wife and grandmother, died peacefully on October 11. Suzanne was born in Yonkers, N.Y., on April 22, 1938. She attended high school in Phillipsburg, N.J., and lived with her parents Charles Hollis Slater and Alice Koogle Slater for many years in Easton, Penn.

She graduated from Penn State University with honors and joined the teaching profession. Suzanne married Frank Kristoff in 1960 and lived in various homes in Bucks County, Penn., Ridgewood, N.J., Rumson, N.J., New Castle, Del., La Jolla, Calif., Naples, Fla., and New Canaan, raising her family in Ridgefield, Conn.

Suzanne was involved in the New England antiques world. She owned the Red Petticoat Antique Shop in Ridgefield for many years and was a member of Main Street Cellars in New Canaan. Suzanne was a member of the Artists' Guild for Early American Primitive Arts and was an accomplished artist in her own right, specializing in theorem painting. She combined all of these talents in the extensive and renowned period restoration of many of the fine antique homes in which she lived.

Suzanne is survived by her children, Mark Kristoff and his wife Brett of New Canaan, Karen Murray and her husband Mark of Winchester, Mass.; her grandchildren Natalie, Grayson, Grant and MacKenzie; and her brother, Charles Slater and his wife Elizabeth of Naples, Fla.

Suzanne died after a long fight with multiple sclerosis surrounded by her loved ones. A memorial service will be held in her honor at the First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan at 4 pm Saturday, October 21.
