: "Micro/Macro: Carvings and Photographs," an exhibition of works
by Dalton Ghetti, is on display in the Art X Gallery at the
Stamford Museum & Nature Center through December 12.
In this exhibit, Ghetti, a carpenter by trade, exhibits his
virtuosity with simple carving tools. Using razor blades, a
sharpened needle and handheld drills and files, he creates
microscopic and intricate carvings on the point of ordinary
pencils. Many of the works take several months to finish and some
have required more than a year of work from conception to
completion.
The results are photographed with a large format camera and then
dramatically enlarged. These large photos allow viewers to better
examine the amazing detail of these tiny masterpieces and to
appreciate the artist's technical mastery and artistic vision.
The Stamford Museum & Nature Center is at 39 Scofieldtown
Road. For information, 203-322-1646 or .
