| This cataloge of the acclaimed Bard Graduate Center exhibition "A.W.N. Pugin: Master of Gothic Revival" has much to offer its readers, even those who managed to catch the show before it closed in February 1996. Several excellent essays by the likes of Paul Atterbury, Clive Wainwright, Margaret Floyd, Barry Bergdoll, Roderick O'Donnell, Megan Aldrich and Rosemary Hill make up the first half of the book, discussing everything from Pugin's architecture, interior design and influence in North America to the influence of the Catholic Church upon the designer. The catalogue itself adheres to the structure of the exhibit. Highlighted first are Pugin's early years, followed by his liturgical creations, his work at the Palace of Westminster, his contributions to domestic interiors, and finally The Mediaeval Court at the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of Many Nations in 1851. The text accompanying each of the 195 objects and drawings exhibited (in color) was written by Atterbury, O'Donnell, Wainwright and Malcolm A.C. Hay. The remaining 230 images in the book are featured in black and white.
