The Doll as Art Two |
By Stuart Holbrook |
| Theriault's Gold Horse Publishing, 2148 Renard Court, Annapolis, Md., 21404, pp 143, $68, hardcover |

| Mr Holbrook, a son of George and Florence Theriault (co-founders of the antique doll auction firm Theriault's, Inc.), has created a sequel to his Doll as Art, published in 1990; an over-sized coffee-table volume that is a continuation of the author's rather superfluous argument that dolls are artistic creations. Novice enthusiasts looking for information should look elsewhere, as the book offers an separate index briefly identifying each item rather than in-depth description or history. Doll lovers who can do without background, on the other hand, have a lot to love about this publication, with 126 beautifully photographed, well-chosen French and German examples to pore over, the majority of them featured in tight head shots.
