Fun Kitchen Collectibles

By Jan Lindenberger

Schiffer Publishing, Ltd., 77 Lower Valley Road, Atglen, Pa., 19310, pp. 160, $16.95, paperback.

Lindenberger has assembled some 390 kitchen objects dating from the 1890s to the 1970s, all depicted in color photographs and accompanied by identification, date and approximate value. Among the items featured are tinware, woodenware, enamelware, plastics, electrical items, salt and pepper sets, juicers, strainers, containers, linens and recipe books and boxes. The most expensive pieces seem to fall under the "Gadgets" category, and include 1890s iron cherry pitters and apple peelers. Fun Kitchen Collectibles will probably best serve as a field guide for collectors as they search the latest garage sale or flea market.
