| Designs taken from a Nineteenth Century French portfolio give more than 500 textile examples to this reference, from the linens of ancient Egypt to the brocades of Eighteenth Century France. Brief entries explain groupings of two to five examples, such as "Thirteenth and Fourteenth Centuries. Sacred Persian tree flanked by cheetahs and other animals," or "Seventeenth Century. French dentelated silks with floral powderings." All examples are in well-reproduced color, and should be of interest to textile designers, interior decorators, dealers and students.
