| With the rise in popularity of antiquarian book fairs and escalating prices for modern first editions and other notable volumes at auction, Book Finds is a timely and practical guide for serious collectors who wish to make a profit from their hobby. Ellis, described as an "avid" book collector himself, breaks down the process of acquiring and selling rare books by defining what is rare, stressing condition and edition, demystifying the "art book trading," picking trends, pointing out the pitfalls of buying from catalogs and at auctions, and discussing restoration and general care. A very basic overview of reference sources and a rather flip look at becoming a dealer (a scant five pages in "The Business of Dealing" chapter highlights resale numbers and dealer discounts and includes an all-too-brief examination of "What Can Go Wrong") are followed by a listing of 1,001 "More or Less Collectible - and Findable - Books" and appendices on first editions and terminology.
