| Mr Monek, an attorney from Lake Forest, Ill., has managed to write the story of his 5,000-piece cane and walking stick collection while at the same time offering an historical overview of his subject. Approximately 1,400 examples are represented in 1,200 color photographs and illustrations. Collecting advice, repair information, a bibliography and an index of over 1,500 United States, British and German cane patents are provided. The price guide is in the form of high and low estimates, descriptions and prices realized at two Tradewinds Auctions company sales conducted in 1993 and 1994. A well-photographed, engaging book for the cane connoisseur.
