CONTENTS OF THIS VILLA, WHICH IS ON THE NATIONAL REGISTRY OF HOMES. THE PALLADIAN-STYLE VILLA ON HAMMERSMITH ROAD, OFF OF OCEAN DRIVE, IS FAMED FOR ITS FORMAL GARDENS, COLONNADES AND BALCONIES.
PAINTINGS AND ARTWORKS to include a fine French pastel, Baigneurs au Jeu (Bather Series), bearing the signature of Pierre August Renoir; an important oil on canvas, portrait of Richard Brinsley Sheridan in the manner of Gainsborough; important oil on canvas, Ipswich landscape with figures in the manner of Gainsborough; 19th C. Austrian oil portrait, Countess Troubetsky, wife of Prince Regent of Russia, by Franz Winterhalter (de-accessioned from the Metropolitan Museum of Art); 18th C. oil on canvas, after Rossa Fiorentino, angel with a lute; 18th, 19th and 20th C. French, Dutch, German, Italian, English, and American works, signed or attributed to J. Baptiste Hobert; J. Mari Ten Kate; Albert Groll; Johann Schmiedt; Alyce Drew; Zugola; Pouiguol and a Renoir lithograph, Girl with a Cat, as well as others.*By court order, the only reserves or minimums in the auction are for the three artworks bearing the signature of or attributed to Renoir and Gainsborough.

This collection of historian Alfred Richardson Simson reflects an extraordinary composite of militaria from the period. Col. Simson served on the board of the Napoleonic Society of America for sixteen years.
