| Posting a question: metal statue, think Spelter, 33 inches high, round seal of Frabrication Francaise Paris, sculptor's carved same looks like" J.Berthoz ". Is the most elegant statue of Joan of Arc I have ever seen, so much so it is hard to believe when I have not been able to find the original statue in any art literature I can easily find. I would like to know who is the sculptor and where is the original statue if there is one. It is too beautiful not to share. - Marie: 10/30/2009 6:45:25 AM |

| I own a statue with a name plate that says" Premier Miroir" a beautiful lamp pictured with a bare foot women holding a mirror. She has a name engraved on the base of the lamp signed "Rousseau" and a seal indicating where she was made, Paris, France. She is mounted on a steel base. Her value I do not know as you probably already know that this company made both high end pieces and lower end pieces. If anyone can help price this lamp I would appreciate the help.

Never was a lamp and probably had a wooden base. I can find no casting marks. Just adding to the conversation. I know nothing of its history, yet. - Stebro: 5/14/2008 8:44:25 PM |

| Hello, I purhased what appears to be a true bronze. The subjeject is a man holding a sword in a downward position wearing a sheet like garment. In the background is what appears to be a piece of farm equipmentmet with two arms I beleived to be pulled by an animal to loosen the soil prior to planting. It is signed FRONTIERE ROUSSEAU. Can you help me as to history/originality/origin. Obviously originality you can not determine without seeing in person. Also it is on a metal base. Thank you. - Kevin: 12/21/2006 12:16:40 PM |

| While shopping at a flee market near Orlando I came across Rousseau's sculpture (The Glass Blower). I paid four dollars for it. It is a lamp, and I think all parts are there except the glass ball. It also seems to be spray painted with old lead base paint. The seal and signiture are both there. I would like to see a photo of another Glass Blower. I have no idea as to its value. Any web sites, photo, or info will be appreciated. - Max: 8/6/2006 7:51:36 PM |

| I have a Rousseau that depicts a beautiful lady walking barefoot out of a field holding a load of wheat possibly corn. She has a long flowing dress and hat.It has a Fabrication Francaise, Made in France, Paris, on the base.Beside that it has the name ROUSEAU scratched freehand into it. I know it's not bronze. It seems to be the white pot metal. It too was a lamp at the base of our stairway handrail. The house was built in 1817 and belong to a Col Rueben Beech. It had a vine and leaf like set of lamps possibly 4 or 5 on it. It too was on a base of wood. There seems to be no name plate. It is 21.5" tall and 10" wide at the widest point. a french friend said she is wearing tradional french revolution attire. Any help from anyone? - Jack: 11/9/2005 12:25:25 AM |
| I also have a Rouseau that has the Paris casting seal. It is on a wooden base. The name plate is missing and it was a lamp but the lamp is missing. It is still a beautiful statue of a girl holding up an apple out of the basket on her other arm. Does anyone know the name of this piece and if it is original due to the casting seal?

| I have found that Jean Rousseau has been born in Paris in 1813 (!!!)..exhibited in 1949-1879..comes from the French " school of sculpture"..I believe there were many copies made of his works and your pieces could be one of those .The originals would indeed be very highly priced , but copies are easier to distinguish since the majority could have been made from " bronzed spelter"-Dana - canam88: 2/19/2005 11:50:31 AM |
| I have one of the 'Village Blacksmiths' (La veillee du forgeron -- par Rousseau) which is set up as a lamp. It belonged to my grandmother and is surely ca. 1900. I don't know too much about it but have seen copies w/o the lamp on a website that sells new bronzes.
Does yours have the lamp? I don't beleive they are actually made of bronze - but am not 100% certain.
Feel free to write me. I'll search for the website that sells the (expensive) reproductions.
