BOSTON, MASS. — A Fitz Henry Lane painting of the Camden Hills in Maine brought $1,384,000 ($1.2 million hammer plus buyer’s premium) at Skinner’s September 20 paintings sale.
“Camden Mountains from the Graves,” executed in 1862, was signed and dated and dedicated to Lane’s good friend J.L. Stevens, Jr., of Gloucester. The painting sold to a collector in the gallery.
