:Time & Again, an auction gallery, recently reported the theft of two pieces of merchandise, an abstract painting and a pen and ink drawing, which were both apparently taken from the auctioneer's premises between March 9 and 15. The Linden police department is investigating both reported thefts.
The abstract painting by Natan Isaevich Altman (1889–1970) was purchased by an eBay bidder on March 9 and was to be shipped on March 11 when it was discovered missing.
The work measures approximately 9¼ by 7 inches and is framed with a stain under glass. It is valued at between $2,000 and $3,000.
The pen and ink drawing, with a value between $1,000 and $2,000, is a Nineteenth Century portrait of Alexander I, done in India ink and measuring approximately 10 by 12 inches, framed, 6¾ by 8½ inches unframed. It is dated May 13, 1814, verso, and there is an English poem written underneath the portrait.
