DENVER, PENN. — A 5¢ Caille Brothers Black Cat musical cabinet upright slot machine sold for $96,000 in Morphy Auctions’ November 20-21 Coin-Op and Advertising sale. The piece was in perfect working all-original condition with correct castings and coin head, original wheel and castings and an original music box.
The firm hosts this Coin-Op and Advertising auction two times per year, attracting and offering some of the best examples available on the market. A Caille Bros machine led Morphy Auctions’ year-end 2018 sale as well.
Also included in this recent sale was a rare piece of Coca-Cola memorabilia that soared to $86,100: a 1920s oversized leaded glass display Coca-Cola bottle manufactured by the Metropolitan Art Glass Company in New York. It measured 47 inches high, and even with a few cracked glass panels, bidders pushed the work just above high estimate. The auction house said the example is almost never seen for sale and called it a once-in-a-lifetime chance to acquire it.
