Lawrence Williams Jr, age 83, husband of antiques dealer Cecelia Williams, died August 29 at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1923, in Washington, D.C., son of Lawrence Edwin Williams Sr and Louise Williams.
A 1943 graduate of the US Naval Academy, he served in the navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a manager for C&P Telephone Company. Larry, as he was known to all in the antiques trade, was at his wife’s side during the many antiques shows she exhibited in around the country. Cecelia Williams is known for dealing in cast iron, such as window grates, doorstops and lawn ornaments, and it is anyone’s guess as to how many pounds of inventory Larry lugged in and out of shows during his years as Cecelia’s right hand.
He was the father of Gay Zena Williams of Bethlehem, Penn., and Lawrence Edwin Williams III of Newport Beach, Calif. Larry is also survived by his beloved canine companion Royce, who traveled to many of the antiques shows with him.
Services were private and memorial contributions may be made to Frederick County Animal Shelter, 1832 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick MD 21702.
