NEW YORK CITY – Offering more than 1,000 lots, the three-day sale of the collection of the late Irvin and Anita Schorsch got off to a roaring start at Sotheby’s on Wednesday, January 20. Day one saw exceptional results in every category, with a Philadelphia Chippendale easy chair leading sales at $322,000 including premium. In all, the first two sessions garnered $4,313,938. The Schorsch sale continues through Friday, January 22, at York Avenue and 72nd Street. Of day one’s results, Sotheby’s Americana head Erik Gronning said, “It’s been fantastic. We’re very pleased.”
