GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — On May 16, the Breguet et Fils self-winding quarter repeating watch with equation of time, day, month and power reserve pocket watch became the most expensive timepiece to sell in the Geneva spring season at Christie’s. Selling for $3,325,000, the watch was acquired on December 31, 1817, by Charles-Louis Havas (1783-1858), founder of the famous press agency AFP. It was sold to a private Swiss museum and becomes the second most expensive Breguet watch sold at auction.
