ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Sales at Brunk Auctions totaled more than $1.9 million during the course of its September 15–17 sale. Both European and American paintings achieved exceptional results.

“The Reception,” an elaborate interior scene by the Italian artist Arturo Ricci, sold for $96,000, and was the top lot of the auction. The genre painting features 11 figures actively engaging one another and was previously held at Richard Green Gallery in London.
