PARKS, MD. – Despite its docile appearance, it was a sleeping lamb that made the most noise at Crocker Farm over the weekend. In a delectable cream, brown and green glaze, the redware doorstop, 11¾ inches long, took $47,200 at the firm’s March 24 auction of antique American stoneware and redware. An icon for collectors of Shenandoah Valley pottery, the circa 1890 figure attributed to Eberly & Company of Strasburg, Va., came from a Virginia estate. It made a record mid-five figure price when Green Valley sold it in 2002.
