BLOOMFIELD, N.J. — On October 19-20, Nye & Company conducted its Chic and Antique Estates Treasure auction, featuring property from Rhode Island collector Stanley Weiss. The top lot of the strong metalwork offerings and of the first day’s sale overall was an early Twentieth Century hammered copper and silver bowl with a figural bison-head mount by Joseph Heinrich (b 1866), which closed at $30,750 with a conservative estimate of $5/10,000. It was a loving cup style with three antler handles and arrowheads applied to the top with mixed metal and silver staples. More on this and other treasures in the sale to follow.
