CRANSTON, R.I. — Bruneau & Co Auctioneers conducted a Double Session sale on February 27, continuing the sale of a local Single Owner Couture & Jewelry collection with the first session and a Fine & Decorative Art session later in the day. The top lot of both sessions was a Nineteenth Century shelf clock from B.C. Gilman of Exeter, N.H. Despite the maker’s state of operation, the clock’s style is commonly known as “Boston” or “Massachusetts.” The clock’s case was decorated with inlaid vine and leaf detailing, and its face showed engraved Roman numerals with Gilman’s name and location. There were five phone bidders participating in this lot, which dwindled down to just two before the winner collected the clock for $49,200. More on this and other successful lots to follow in an upcoming issue.
