NEW YORK CITY — On June 8, Phillips hosted its simply named Design auction, with just over 100 lots that nonetheless netted $2,577,338. This was due to the high quality of objects available, including an Albert Cheuret “Heron” console table that led the sale at $215,900 against its $120/180,000 estimate. Made circa 1925, the table was comprised of a rough-edged marble top supported by two patinated bronze herons. The table was consigned from an important private collector, who bought it in 2007 from Raymond Toupenet, Paris.
