LOS ANGELES — All 315 lots from the Collection of Stuart and Phyllis Moldaw, Atherton, Calif., found new homes when Andrew Jones Auctions offered them on June 18. The white-glove sale achieved more than $720,000, with a strong section of Chinese works of art that attracted what Aileen Ward, vice president and senior specialist, called a “vast contingent of Chinese works of art buyers the world over.” Many of the Chinese lots surpassed their estimates, including a pair of Chinese export famille rose porcelain fishbowls that measured 27¾ inches in height, including hardwood stands. Estimated at $3/5,000, the pair sold for $8,750 to a domestic Chinese works of art collector. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium; watch for a more extensive recap of the sale in an upcoming issue.
