NEW YORK CITY — Doyle’s auction of Important Jewelry on June 22 saw dazzling jewelry achieve equally dazzling prices amid international competition. The auction was preceded by special previews in Doyle’s galleries in Palm Beach, Boston and Beverly Hills. With competitive bidding, the sale totaled $4,139,337, far surpassing its estimate of $1,983,700-3,028,500, with 96 percent sold by lot and 100 percent sold by value. Highlighting the auction was a Bulgari ring featuring a fancy intense blue-green diamond flanked by two fancy intense pink diamonds that realized $1,058,500, more than double its estimate of $300/500,000. Property from a New Jersey collector, the ring sold to a private collector participating via telephone.
