WILLISTON, VT. — Merrill’s Auctioneers and Appraisers embarked on a Sporting, Adirondack & Estate Auction on July 21, with more than 600 lots across categories from early to contemporary makers with an appreciation for the great American outdoors. Perched at the top of the auction was a Floyd Scholz (b 1958) carved sculpture group of two white falcons on a rock, numbered, signed and titled “Arctic Royalty Gyr Falcons.” Scholz, a Vermont-based artist, is a five-time US National Champion and World Master Best in Show Champion in his craft. After a volley of competing bids, the falcon group achieved $8,850 with buyer’s premium. More on this and other high peaks of the auction to follow.
