BEVERLY, MASS. — Hosting two days of August Estates Auctions on August 19 and 20, Kaminski Auctions featured a provenanced collection of Japanese prints, Chelsea clocks and European and American furniture from a southern Connecticut estate, as well as property from a Palm Beach, Fla., estate. The highest-selling lot came up in the second day’s auction, from a Rye, N.H., estate: a frosty 1904 landscape titled “First Snow” by Ivan Augustovitch Veltz (Russian, 1866-1926). The verso showed Bonhams’ labels, and identified the subject as “Dowager’s Palace.” The painting sold to a floor bidder for $21,600. More on this and other leading lots in an upcoming issue.
