DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY — In three days of auctions — March 7-9 — Hargesheimer Kunstauktionen gaveled down more than 2,100 lots of European fine and decorative art, rugs and musical instruments to bidders from around the world. The top price of the sale at $69,681 was achieved for Alfred Boucher’s (French, 1850-1934) “The History of Philosophy,” a relief-carved marble that was included in two late Nineteenth Century Parisian salons and a 2014 catalogue raisonné on the artist. Consigned to sale from a private Rhenish collection, it found a new home with a Belgian buyer who was bidding on the phone. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house and have been converted into USD from Euros based on the conversion rate on the day of the auction.
