MARIETTA, OHIO — Meander Auctions’ November 23 Holiday Antiques and Art auction featured, among other sources, part one of the lifetime collection of a Northeastern Ohio dealer, items from the collection of the late Dr James Dawson of Kentucky and lots sold by the Dayton Art Institute to benefit its acquisition fund. Seven paintings by Ohio artist Clyde Singer (1908-1999) — all from the collection of the late Pete Slates of Carrollton, Ohio — were on offer, including two of the sale’s top lots: “Pink Lady” (shown here) that sold to a phone bidder for $8,610, and “McSorley’s – Passing the Bar” that an online bidder won for $8,260. Watch for a more in-depth review of the 444-lot auction in a forthcoming issue.
