PLAINFIELD, N.H. — Bill Smith had a large crowd at his February 26 Winter sale, giving out 165 bidder numbers to those in the gallery. A signed Benjamin Champney White Mountain scene brought $22,800 to be the high price of the day (pictured). The sale featured eight paintings by Paul Sample, one of which earned $21,600. Of several pieces of fine jewelry was a platinum and diamond line necklace that sold for $19,200. Amid plenty of furniture, silver and Asian items was an outstanding pair of carved and painted Bengal tigers. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house; a full report will follow.
