Chairs and Sofas on View at Windsor House
LONDON, ENGLAND , An exhibition of 150 chairs and dozen sofas will celebrate the move to London from Leeds by Windsor House Antiques, now located in extensive premises at 23 Grafton Street and 28-29 Dover Street, in the heart of Mayfair.
“” features sophisticated chairs, country chairs, single chairs, sets of chairs, armchairs, hall chairs, library chairs, upholstered wing chairs, as well as comfortably upholstered sofas. The seating dates from the Seventeenth Century to the early Twentieth Century and is mainly English, but French seat furniture will also be on view.
One of the star exhibits is an Indian throne chair circa 1870 made of solid silver and silver-gilt. In addition, antique seating such as a set of 12 Regency Period sabre-leg, parcel-gilt chairs, circa 1810; a set of eight Georgian mahogany dining chairs, circa 1780; and a pair of mahogany Gainsborough chairs, circa 1760, will be shown.
Kevin Smith, owner of Windsor House Antiques, served as Vice Chairman of Britain’s largest fine art and antiques association, The London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association (LAPADA), for 20 years and on its Board of Directors for 23.
