NEW YORK CITY – Phillips, de Pury & Luxenbourg announces the appointment of Joshua Holdeman as director of its new photography department. The company plans to introduce sales of photography twice yearly beginning in spring 2002.
Holdeman began his career in 1993 as a photography department intern at the Robert Miller Gallery. The gallery, noted as a pioneer for promoting photography as a fine art form and for its vast inventory of vintage photographs, has had a photography department since its opening in 1977.
Holderman was named head of that department in March 2000. During his tenure there, he was involved with the estate of Diane Arbus and the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation. He has also worked with numerous notable artists such as Bruce Weber, William Eggleston, and Adam Fuss.
