NEW YORK CITY – Ernest S. Kramer Fine Arts & Prints will have a special exhibition of late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century American and European prints at the Luden Gardens Hotel, 215 East 64th Street, November 7-10, 11 am to 8 pm.
This collection of more than 500 work will showcase images by James Allen, John Taylor Arms, Gustave Baumann, Frank W. Benson, Thomas Hart Benton, Paul Cadmus, Mark Freeman, Edward Hopper, Rockwell Kent, Martin Lewis, Louis Lozowick, Joseph Pennell, Ernest Roth, John Sloan, James J. Tissott, Stow Wengenroth, Grant Wood and Anders Zorn.
The collection includes etchings, lithographs, mezzotints and color woodblocks. Images portraying New York City and environs are: “West 42nd Street,” Early Morning,” “North River,” and “Out My Window” by John Taylor Arms; “Houston Street Burlesque” by Mabel Dwight; “Manhattan Waterfront” and “New York Skyline” by Ernest Feine; “2nd Avenue El,” “Concrete Cliffs” and “Brooklyn Bridge” by Mark Freeman and “3 am” by Isaac Friedlander.
Of note is a group of lithographs by Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood, including “Jesse James,” “Swampland,” “The Race & Wreck of the Ol ’97” by the former and “January, February, March & December Afternoon” by the latter.
A selection of etchings by Frank W. Benson will include many figural pieces: “Boats at Dawn,” “The Landing” and “Duck Blind”. In addition, the collection includes “The Patroness” by Peggy Bacon, “Girl Fixing Her Hair” by George Bellows, and “Night Shadows” by Edward Hopper.
