After Nearly 30 Years in Storage, a Revolving Shaker Stool Spins to $21,000
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – A Shaker revolving stool brought $21,000 at Hubley’s President’s Day auction on February 18. A 25-inch high taper leg tray-top cherry table brought $15,500. Both pieces, as well as several other lots in the auction, had been stored since 1973 at a small storage facility south of Boston, and only brought to light recently.
Hubley’s has hosted an annual President’s Day auction for the past 40 years with selected rdf_Descriptions from estates. A Louis XV walnut two-drawer chest from a Boston estate brought $9,000.
A Grueby lamp base with 1904 St Louis Exposition Label came from an Amesbury, Mass., estate and brought $11,000. A Federal period three-drawer worktable brought $4,750.
An early wing chair with tiger maple secondary wood brought $6,000. A green Fitzhugh platter and two plates reached $1,900.
