IFPDA

NEW YORK CITY – The International Fine Print Dealers Association announces a new president – Robert K. Newman (The Old Print Shop). A natural choice for the position, Newman has been committed to the development of the IFPDA for a period spanning over 10 years. His focus and enthusiasm, not to mention his extensive print expertise, come as valuable assets to the IFPDA organization as it continues to grow and prosper in 2002.

The presidential election last fall followed the retirement of Richard Solomon (Pace Prints) after a four-year tenure. Solomon’s vision and invaluable guidance continually worked to improve and direct the organization, for which the IFPDA would like to offer great thanks. IFPDA would also like to welcome Solomon as an Ex-officio Board Member – a position that awards him a life-time place on the Board.

The IFPDA further announces the newly appointed Members of the Board, following the elections of the 2001 Annual Meeting. The role of IFPDA Vice President is this year assumed by Diane Villani (Diane Villani Editions); also joining us on the IFPDA Board are Eric G. Carlson (Eric G. Carlson Fine Prints and Drawings), Jorg Maass (Jorg Maass Kunsthandel), Paula McCarthy Panczenko (Tandem Press) and Tara Reddi (Marlborough Graphics – N.Y.). Re-elected to the Board are Andrew Fitch (Fitch-Febvrel Gallery), James Goodfriend (C & J Goodfriend Drawings and Prints) and Susan Teller (Susan Teller Gallery). Continuing to serve are Joseph Goddu (Hirschl and Adler Galleries, Inc.), Patrick Albano (Aaron Galleries), Roger Genser (The Prints and the Pauper), Alan Stone (Hill-Stone, Inc.), Daniel Lienau (The Annex Galleries) and Mary Ryan (Mary Ryan Gallery, Inc.).

LAPADA

LAPADA, The Association of Art and Antique Dealers, London, England, announces the appointment of John Newgas as Chief Executive beginning June 1 upon the retirement of Malcolm Hord. Newgas will assume responsibility for the management and administration of the Association, reporting directly to the Chairman and Board.

Newgas has a degree from London University and has spent his career in management and commerce. He has been managing director of a manufacturing company since 1991. In his new role of representing members of the Association both in the UK and abroad, his experience of lobbying and of legislative matters, together with his knowledge of business management and finance, will be invaluable to the future of the Association. Newgas has a keen interest in antique glass and collects clocks.

Lord Howe, Chairman of LAPADA explained, “From a wealth of highly qualified candidates, John Newgas presented himself as clearly the most outstanding at interview. He demonstrated that he had an understanding of many of the issues that affect the trade and I look forward to working with him in the best interests of the Association.”
